About Empower
I have been passionately working in the world of mental health and well being for over thirty years. I began as a volunteer with Nightline Charity while In Coventry University in 1993 studying Applied Social Sciences, which was a telephone call- in mental health support service for students from the hours 8pm- 8am. I then trained and volunteered in the Newry branch of the Samaritans in 1997.

After marrying in 2000, I then had my amazing daughter - and on her first birthday I began my 2 year training with BCTC. I set up my first Counselling Practice in 2004 and moved to larger premises in 2006 and began to study with the National Centre for Eating Disorders, where I employed another counsellor and began working alongside GP surgeries, delivering workshops for schools and expanding with regular workshops on mindfulness and ‘UNdieting’.

I had my second child - my gorgeous son - in 2008 and carried on providing counselling and training within the local community up until 2021. It was then that I rebranded as Empower and relocated to a larger, more suitable space on a ground floor office and workshop area in the beautiful, peaceful countryside in 2022. Oh, I also began my 5 month CPCAB Accredited Level 2 Breathwork Coach training with Bedfordshire Centre for Therapeutic Studies that has enhanced the quality of the 1:1 Counselling Sessions immensely, after qualifying Spring 2023.

Empower After Narcissistic Abuse
With my life experience as well as training and qualifications – my focus today is on reaching out to people who have experienced Complex Childhood Trauma, Family Scapegoat Abuse and Narcissistic Abuse and helping them learn about this destructive cycle while beginning to recover with the power that they have within themselves.
I also integrate Breathwork (work with both body and mind) with those who have been emotionally and psychologically abused.
My desire is for people, who’s lives have been ripped to pieces, who are confused, but feel like they need to stay silent due to misplaced sense of shame - to know that they will be understood, there is a way to rebuild and reclaim their true story with pride and grow even further and be happier than they have ever been – as they empower themselves and thrive, living their lives freely as their true, authentic self.
I have trained and researched extensively in this area and the reality that it is it is linked to issues like eating disorders, stress, physical ailments like fibromyalgia, low self esteem and distraction from healthy boundaries that are there to protect – needs to be discussed with respect and coherency. I know there are real, purposeful ways of minimalizing impact of this abuse (that is hidden in plain sight) – and this needs to be acted upon in the wider community too – in our schools, workplaces, sports clubs etc.
If you have labelled yourself as a ‘People Pleaser’, ‘Overthinker’, ‘Perfectionist’ or you ‘Blame yourself for blowing it’, feel shame’ for how things have turned out in the past’ – I would love you to feel that courage within and get in touch and we can arrange a free 30 minute conversation and begin to see how much power you have had within yourself all along.

You can do this – I believe in you!

I am BACP Accredited so abide to their professional standards and ethical framework of good practice.
Counselling is an excellent tool for discovering yourself. At Empower, it’s so important that clients see themselves as the people with the power and the ability to improve their quality of life as they grow. As a qualified Breath Coach, I integrate somatic connections with your body and mind for holistic, safe recovery and healing.
